Cairns
We have recently completed 'peak-bagging' the 48 4,000-footers in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. One of the features that all of these mountians share is the presence of cairns, or human-built rock piles that mark trails and summits. I play with the cairn theme im my jewelry because I find it fascinating that such a simple symbol can communicate so much in leading us on our paths. I also use the cairn image to pay homage to these mountains that I adore.
Mushrooms
I believe that the mushroom is an archetypal image that is buried deep within our collective unconscious. The sight of mushrooms triggers a variety of responses, including fascination, fear and appetite. My response is always wonder and awe, which is why I make mushroom jewelry.
