This one-of-a-kind necklace features Stone Stack Iron Furnace Slag, quite a mouthful for a rich river treasure. I found the slag in the Gale River near me, but it could have come from countless other historical iron furnace sites across North America and Europe. I polished it so as to preserve the gleam that it had in the river, and set it in silver, framing it with a silver fern. It hangs from an oxidized 18" Sterling chain.

An especially large piece that I will cut down. Usually they are smaller, and more consistent.

The source! The Franconia Iron Furnace, one of seven still standing in the US. At one point there were hundreds!
