Translucency

14th Feb 2014

One of the more recent developments in my jewelry has been the introduction of translucency. I love things that let light through, whether it is water, glass, ice, or wings such as those that grace dragonflies and certain butterflies and moths. I had never seen this achieved in handmade, non-glass jewelry, and thought long and hard about it. And then I back-burnered it, which was, of course, when an idea came to me. And it worked! So now I am able to use translucent and/or transparent jewelry resins, carefully applied to fabricated wire frames, and selectively add pigment to achieve the effect I am going for. This has opened up a new door with endless exciting possibilities.
